OBF LAUNCHES FOOTBALL TEAM
One of the focus of Oluseyi Bisiriyu Foundation also centered on sport with the purpose of ensuring good relationships between and among people.
It is for this purpose that the foundation engaged in promoting young talent at the grassroots level in Nigeria, just few week the foundation launches a football team and establishes a relationship with some grassroots football coaches.
The team in their first attempt featured in the Wasinmi summer soccer championship 2021 which began on the 1st of August and ended on the 15th of August 2021.
The team were represented both in the under 15 and under 17 category in the competition.
The foundation believes that this effort will not only encourage players to improve their football skills whilst having fun but also help to develop the local talent and confidence of players, regardless of where each player is coming from while promoting diversity and reducing the likelihood of discrimination, sexism, and racism.
While the U-17 could not go beyond the group stage, the U-15 were able to reach the semifinal stage in the competition.
In the battle to get to the final stage the OBF team played with the host team and were defeated with 1-0 but unfortunately, the organizers make no consideration for the 3rd place in the competition.
We however hope that as the team progresses in their future engagements they’ll make the foundation proud very soon.
We have also decided to call the two coaches and both team to have a briefing with them and look at the way forward.
