OBF MESSAGE ON DEMOCRACY DAY

OBF MESSAGE ON DEMOCRACY DAY

OLUSEYI BISIRIYU FOUNDATION MESSAGE ON DEMOCRACY DAY

This day is one of extreme significance in our history as a nation as it marks the return of power to the people.

Our uninterrupted democracy since 1999, is proof of its overwhelming popularity and acceptance, as it has allowed the active participation of everyone in the society in choosing their leader.

It is on this note that  we wish to felicitate with his Excellencies, President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo GCON on the occasion of Nigeria’s 21st Democracy Day in this year 2020,  for officially recognising June 12 as the nation’s Democracy Day in honour of the Late M.K.O. Abiola, who paid a steep price for this participatory government.

We also congratulate all Nigerians, home and abroad, for witnessing another milestone in the nation. Though it has been a mixed bag of emotions and perceptions for Nigerians through the period but we must appreciate the concerted efforts of the leadership of the country at turning our dwindling fortunes around.

We know that the government particularly recognizes and identifies with the hardship we are going through as a nation presently especially during this time of unfortunate situation brought on by the coronavirus pandemic,  but we must also understand that the value of gold is expressed after its purification by fire, we hope that everything comes back to normal in a short while.

We believe that the government is not resting on its oars to see that the present hardship is ameliorated and we begin to experience a new wave of peace and prosperity across the nations.

We however beseech the government to intensify her effort in deepening democratic values towards ensuring that our people are major stakeholders in the process of governance.
